Study of behavior of galvanic corrosion in (CO2 – Cl–– Tem. – H2O) system
Abstract
The effect of temperature on galvanic corrosion of two types of API N-80 carbon
steel and AISI 410 stainless steel (12.3 % Cr) Galvanic corrosion is investigated
environments containing CO2. The galvanic effect is strongly effected by temperatures
(100 oC and 150 oC), when concentration of chloride ions is (0.03 – 0.3) % NaCl at CO2
environments.
The galvanic effect is more significant at 70 oC and 100 oC in 0.03%NaCl
solutions respectively. Moreover the corrosion rate of these metals as a function of
temperature was found to fit Arhinous equation due to the temperature was changed
exponentially with rate of corrosion of the metal used.
