Evaluation of the Efficiency of Penicillium marneffei Segretain in control of larval instars of the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus Say (Diptera: culicidae)

Abstract

The current research evaluate the efficacy of the fungus  P. marneffei and using it as biological agent in the control of larval instars of the mosquito Cx. quinquefasciatus. Different concentrations of fungus suspention and its secondary metabolism were used in larvae of of mosquito,  the result showed that the higher mortality percentage of first larval instars was 77.70% at the concentration of  2×10 4spore / ml after 120 hours, while the lowest mortality percentage was 59.5% at the lowest concentration of 2 × 10 2 spore / ml at the same period.
But the application secondary metabolism showed high mortality percentage when 100% concentration was used against the mentioned instar and it reached  78.93%  after 72 hours .while alower mortality percentage was recorded 55.77% concentration of 25%  of secondary metabolism was used at  the same period.
