I am interested in studying cancer therapy and the different ways to increase the safety of chemotherapies such as asparaginase. Asparaginase (ASNase) is widely used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children but it causes metabolic complications and liver toxicity. The lab I did my PhD in discovered that ASNase activates the adaptive GCN2-eIF2-ATF4 amino acid stress response (AAR). My project aims to investigate the role of ATF4 in the ability of the liver to adapt to asparaginase treatment.
