The Department of Surgery and Obstetrics at the college of Veterinary Medicine / University of Qadisiya held a seminar entitled “Using traditional and modern ways to produce twins and off-season births in Iraqi sheep”

The purpose of the symposium: –
1- Improving livestock through increasing the number of births in sheep.
2 – Increase awareness of veterinary sheep breeders.
3 – the use of modern methods and alternative breeding methods of sheep.

Abstract: The symposium included several topics:
1 – The first topic: Biological determinants of reproduction in sheep and the factors associated with increasing the frequency of births in sheep.
2 – the second topic: the physiology and endocrinology of the newborn sheep.
3 – The third topic: programs of multiplicity of births in sheep.

Results
The symposium concluded the need to apply the programs and modern scientific methods in the development of the off-season production and the development of twins.

Recommendations:
1- Organizing special seminars for local educators and owners of breeding stations for Iraqi sheep.
2. Recommending the use of modern and efficient methods to get large numbers possible births.

The seminar was held in the hall of Dr. Jawad Al-Obaidi at the College and presented by Dr. Diaa Hussein Jassim, Abbas Fadel Daham, and Dr. Khalid Mohammed Karam.
