Abstract : The Iraqi economy is a rentier economy due to its dependence on crude oil as a main source of national
income in light of the weak contribution of other economic sectors to it. Iraq’s foreign trade is oil exports, but its
imports are many and varied as oil exports contribute to a greater proportion than commodity exports and therefore
state revenues are achieved by The oil sector, and from this, the research deals with the reality of the evolution of the
structure of exports and imports and their concentration in some commodities or on some countries, In addition to
analyzing the components of the trade balance, and through this, it is possible to identify the importance of what
international trade provides of foreign currencies that contribute to stimulating imports to meet the requirements of
growth and economic development for Iraq.
