Abstract: Population censuses are exposed to a set of obstacles and difficulties that negatively affect the performance. It has
given the importance of taking care of the quality of census data and measuring it for the many purposes. It uses of its results,
methods for evaluating results will be presented in relation to content errors, using methods to measure the quality of census
results, and modifying age-sex data when necessary, to avoid their impact on population projections and development need
projections in the various commodity and service sectors. Developing countries, including Iraq, encounter problems and
obstacles in the population census data, and with the aim of evaluating and modifying these censuses, the results of the 1997
census of Najaf city were studied, as divided into (urban and rural) based on the index of the United Nations secretariat as a
criterion for the comparison. It was noted that the age ratio errors and the ratio of heaping is greater in females than in males, and
it is more in rural areas than in urban areas. Therefore, the problem can be presented as : Are there major errors in the census
data. We find out the best way to address these errors.
